Arklow Town U13 DDSL vs Mount Merrion match report Saturday 28th September.
We welcomed top of the table Mount Merrion to Travers Insurances Park on Saturday hoping to get a home win.
Arklow took kick-off. First corner of the game went to Arklow but unfortunately sailed out past the goal for a goal kick. Mount Merrion managed to get a save in the six yard box from Robert in goals who was captain for the day. Mount Merrions number 12 and 7 were their initial threat and a corner was conceded to them at the eight minute mark. The game ebbed and flowed as Mount Merrion applied pressure. A break out at the twelve minute mark lead to a near miss from Dylan and we started to come back into the game with some lovely interplay across the pitch leading to a Dylan Bealan goal around the twenty five minute mark. We finished the half strongly and nearly got a second from a corner that hit the crossbar. 1-0 Arklow at half time.
We started brightly in the second half with an early John Eramus shot within two minutes going close. The pressure was kept on as we chased a win but it wasn't going to be all our own way and Mount Merrion came back at us with a period of pressure as they searched for the equaliser leading to a few nervous moments at the back. But neither team could get a second half goal.
An exciting game played well with a 1-0 home win for The Town.
